Spontaneous rides

WEll, with so much happening with the club, I have been shabby in posts.  Lots of people are contacting Bill Levy after reading the articles wanting to know more and/or join the club. Seems there are many "mature" riders wanting to ride in a group.
So about the ride. This is a fine ride for Metropolitan crowd.

Saturday Mr. Bones and I went to Richard Heck's barbershop to give out applications. We saw Lynn's and Bill's new scoots. Lynn went down in ccs and Bill went up.
As we started to leave Bill said he and Phyllis would like to ride, as did Lynn and Richard so everyone was to call me. Richard and Lynn couldn't make it; so Phyllis, the Bills and I met at Harrison Bay, had lunch at the restaurant there, then took off toward Birchwood.
We went on the ride I hope the club will take to see the Memorial in Meigs County where the Indians were shipped off on what would later be known as the "trail of tears".
Nice ride, we missed the rain and it really cooled off. The heat rose as we reached Birchwood but on the scoots it was bearable.
The memorial is getting some additions.  There were folks working so we went in.
[be very wary of the large rocks at the beginning]. We stayed for a while, not too long, and went we tried to get out....THEY HAD LOCKED THE GATE!!!
Well Mr. Bones rode his scoot out by going around the gate, then he saved me by  riding my scoot out next to the gate AND (wait for it) there by the side of the gate was THE KEY....just there on the ground.
I think this was great news to Phyllis and Bill who were watching and probably thinking, "how will we do this?"

There was no sign, closes at xxxxx time. So  when the club rides we will look for the key first. :)

This is near the wildlife refuge where the cranes abide in the spring.; nice about 55 mile ride if we all meet at the 58 Waffle House, go to the memorial, and return. We could pack lunches and sit by the Hiawassee.
OR we could go further by crossing the river, going to Dayton, eating lunch there, and return to town via Dayton Blvd.

I like the idea of spontaneous rides, organized club rides, joining Hill City United for rides. I just love to ride.
